O LEGADO DAS AREIAS -

REGISTRO DE UMA PAISAGEM RECUPERADA

Writing a book is a unique moment in the life of all writers and / or companies, since, as much as it is a record for posterity, it is a sharing of all the knowledge that was acquired with the support of all who accompany us throughout these years. This book is both a milestone and a commitment. A milestone for the incredible project that will leave a legacy for both the city of Rio de Janeiro and the world of golf, and a commitment to our willingness to innovate and continuously seek ways to contribute to a better world. The Legacy of the Sands: registration of a recovered landscape brings to the public, in a clear and unequivocal manner, the entire process of building one of its most impressive arenas for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, whose project was not restricted to purely aesthetic and sports plans , but before that he mastered a golf course with nature in perfect “symbiosis”. The book presents the environmental recovery project carried out in an area of more than 1 million better squares, which not only expanded the area’s vegetation coverage, but recovered an entire region that had been degraded since the 1980s. Among the successes throughout the environmental recovery process, transplantations of innumerable native species stand out within the land, in addition to the fact that several seedlings produced in the nursery set up in the area have been successfully planted. The dynamics of the fauna component populations existing in the OGC area, throughout the implementation and operation phases of the enterprise, had promoted increases in the region’s biodiversity and a wide enrichment of wild fauna, an incredible increase of 123%.
Corridors in the area have been maintained or restocked. At times when the OGC is deserted, such as at night, days with heavy rain, etc., animals normally circulate on the lawn and on existing trails.
The book “O Legado das Areias: Registro de Uma Paisagem Recuperada” [The Legacy of Sands – Record of A Recovered Landscape] had its international launch at the largest golf fair in the world, the Golf Industry Show, on February 8, 2017.
